About

Hi, my name is Spiro Stakauskas and I am the creator of this website. Here I will be writing out my most interesting stories, uploading my best photos, and giving any information that could be helpful to other travelers as I go through my journey of visiting every country on earth. It is my dream to be able to visit both the well-known and off the beaten path locations in order to familiarize myself with all the unique cultures, landmarks, and nature that this beautiful planet has to offer. But I take a different approach than other travelers who also want to explore those things, by seeking out all experiences, not just the comfortable ones. From tasting foods that many people would not even consider, such as the time I ate dog in Hanoi, to walking through places where everyone stares at me because it is so strange to see a white person, like when I visited the disputed territory of Western Sahara.
I value authenticity in the experiences I have and the things I see, which is why I would rather fly half way around the world to see “Queen of Primates” in its natural habitat instead of going to a zoo. It is this same kind of authenticity that I write with, because I want to inspire others to travel and to see the reality of this world, both good and bad. If I am traveling alone I frequently get asked “Aren’t you scared?”, but for me, any experience is a good experience as long as I am able to turn it into a story later on.
I won’t be sharing any stories about fancy resorts, not only because I would much rather spend my time amongst the locals wherever I am, but also because I am a budget traveler. Traveling has also given me perspective on how unequal opportunities can be around the world. I ask myself why I deserve to have my money as opposed to all the hard working people who were not privileged enough to be born in the US or another well off nation. Because of this, I always hope to leave a positive financial impact on the people that I encounter while traveling, just as they leave me with a different point of view when I return home.
